Special Structures

The I-2 interchange station is one of the Metro de Sevilla stations located on the periphery of the city.

The structure consists of two connected buildings with different tipology. Because of they were developed in two differents project stages, the design of the main building structure and the annex one have been made separately.

The slabs present several typologies: 40 and 50-centimeter-thick waffle slabs and prestressed and post-tensioned hollow core slabs (80-centimeter-deep and 21-meter-long).

The characteristic elements of the station façade are the series of horizontal reinforced concrete beams with 80-centimeter-wide and 33 and 35 centimeter-deep trapezoidal cross-section. These beams are slat-shaped.

A solution of 80-centimeter-thick and 17-meter-long retaining wall corresponding to the two-storey basement has been adopted. The foundation of the structure has been solved by shallow footings. They are braced by 40x40-centimeter tie beams, which also attach the footings to the walls and the retaining wall base.
